In the spring of 2013 I joined the workshop of master bowmaker Donald M.Cohen of Alexandria, VA as a bowmaking apprentice. Since then I have been assisting in the repair, restoration, and making of violin, viola, cello, and bass bows.
The workshop is one of my happy places. Being able to work on bows that are sometimes more than a hundred years old, and still in use every single day, is simply wonderful.
As of August 2017 Mr. Cohen has semi retired his public business to solely concentrate on bow making.
He will still take on customer work on a very limited, per appointment only, basis.
