Monthly lesson fees:Single lesson fees: 30 min lessons: $153.00 a month 30min: $45.00 45 min lessons: $210.80 a month 45min: $62.00 60 min lessons: $272.00 a month 60min: $80.00
Tuition: Tuition has to be paid monthly. The monthly tuition is based on the fee for 34 lessons to be given in a ten months time frame (between September 2, 2019 and June 12, 2020). Example: your child takes 30 minute lessons throughout the school year. $45 (single lesson fee) x 34 (number of lessons) = $1,530. $1,530 divided by 10 (number of lesson months) = $153 (your monthly tuition). Tuition is due the first day of EACH of the 10 months beginning September 1, 2019 and continuing through June 1, 2020. Typically, all 34 lessons will be taught by the end of the first week of June 2019. Full tuition is due every month regardless of the number of lessons the student received in the particular month.
If you join my studio midyear the monthly fee will be pro-rated accordingly.
Studio fees: All students pay a studio fee of $50 twice a year (per family) which is due at the beginning of each semester, September 1, 2019 and February 1, 2020. The studio fee pays for the time spent on administrative work (phone calls, emails, copying music, writing recommendation letters, repertoire, program development, recital planning, and schedule adjustment).
Lesson free days (please mark your calendars): October 8, 2019 November 5-11, 2019 and 27-29, 2019 (Thanksgiving) December 23, 2019 – January 3, 2020 (winter break) April 6-13, 2020 (spring break)
Summer lessons: Summer lessons are offered on a flexible, paid per lesson, base. Students who take a minimum of 5 lessons over the summer will get priority scheduling the following year.
Trial lessons: If you are interested in joining my studio I'm happy to schedule a trial lesson. This is the moment to meet each other, to ask questions and to see if this is most likely going to be a positive teacher/student relationship. The trial lesson will be charged according to my single lesson fees (see above).
Make up policy: I am following the FCPS calendar for Thanksgiving, winter break and spring break. I do teach on most national holidays that fall on a Monday. Please remember that your lesson time is reserved for you exclusively, and it is your responsibility to attend. Each student will receive one make up lesson per semester (missed for any reason, including illness, concerts, family trips, etc) throughout the 2019/20 school year. I have build in two make up weeks. They are not counted towards your 34 lesson total; they are exclusively used for make ups. The two make up weeks are at the end of each semester: January 27-31, 2020 June 8-12, 2020 Any missed lesson beyond the two missed lessons will not be made up and no refund will be given. I’m not carrying any makeup lessons over into the summer. If my performance and coaching schedule forces me to cancel lessons then those lessons will be made up on a Saturday at a mutually agreed upon time. Lessons cancelled by me do not count towards the two excused absences you are entitled to.
Termination of lessons: If you decide to discontinue private lessons in my studio I require a 4 weeks advance notice, as well as an extra one month tuition check after lessons are terminated.
Lesson requirements: Students are expected to practice regularly, at least 5 days a week. If a student has not completed his/her assignment or is in any way unprepared, I reserve the right to end the lesson early with no refund given. Students who are frequently unprepared with assignments will be subject to lesson termination.
Recitals: In the fall/winter and spring the students will have the chance to showcase their skills in a recital. Participation is expected. There will be a recital fee to cover the hall rental and accompanist. If an accompanist needs to be hired, the costs will be split among the students.
